Manama: Competitions of the National Day Endurance Championship began on Friday at the Bahrain International Endurance Village. The championship is organised by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) from December 18 to 20, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's celebration of its National Day and the 26th anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's accession to the throne, and the accompanying national events.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the opening day featured wide participation from riders and stables in both international and local races, with competitive performances across all categories. Victorious Team led the international 120 km race, while Al Safinat Stables and Victorious Team shared the lead in the international 100 km race. In the local 100 km race, Al Ajial Stables finished first, while Victorious Team topped the local 80 km race.
On Saturday, the Bahrain International Endurance Village will host the main local 120 km race for the National Day Cup, in addition to a local qualifying race over 40 km, with strong competition expected among participating riders.
