Sitra: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, conducted an inspection tour of the Sitra Central Market development project. The inspection was attended by Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, MP Mohsen Ali Al Asbool, MP Jalila Alawi Al Sayed, Saleh Taher Taradah, President of the Capital Municipality Council, and Aleya Yahya Yusuf, Director General of the Capital Municipality Council.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Mubarak stated that the development of central markets is part of the Ministry's efforts to improve service facilities' efficiency and provide a modern environment for vendors and market visitors. The Sitra Central Market development is among the projects aimed at enhancing the shopping experience and providing facilities that meet the needs of local residents and those from neighboring areas.
Minister Al Mubarak highlighted the ministry's ongoing plans to develop central markets in line with citizens' aspirations by upgrading infrastructure and preparing facilities according to organizational and service standards that support local commercial activity. He reviewed the latest developments, noting that the project has reached 80% completion, with redevelopment works and preparations to receive vendors and visitors underway.
MP Al Asbool described the project as a significant addition to the area, offering modern services and facilities. He praised the Ministry's efforts to implement projects that address residents' needs. Similarly, MP Al Sayed expressed approval for the development, emphasizing its role in providing an improved environment and services for citizens.
Chairman Taradah mentioned the council's close monitoring of the project, underscoring its focus on enhancing municipal facilities and market efficiency. He anticipated improved cooperation among stakeholders to maximize the development's benefits for vendors and residents.
The project spans 8,677.50 square meters and includes 32 vegetable stalls, 32 fish stalls, 20 commercial shops, as well as 63 parking spaces and public facilities. A fish-cleaning area has also been established, ensuring a comprehensive range of services for market users.
