Manama: MP Mamdooh Al Saleh, Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament, participated in the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament, which took place during the second session of the fourth legislative term.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh emphasized the significant contributions and progress of Bahraini women across various domains, attributing this to the robust support provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He acknowledged the King's commitment to empowering women and integrating their capabilities into the national development agenda.
Al Saleh expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from His Majesty the King, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. He highlighted the notable achievements of Bahraini women in national endeavors.
During the meeting, Al Saleh proposed the development of a guiding Arab draft law aimed at enhancing mental health in educational institutions, including schools and universities. He reviewed Bahrain's efforts to promote mental health services in educational settings, aligning with the Kingdom's advancements in health, medical, and psychological services, adhering to international standards for diverse societal groups. Special attention was given to services for women and children.
Al Saleh commended the SCW for its pivotal role in elevating the status of women and ensuring their involvement in all life aspects. He noted that the SCW's visionary approach aligns with global trends concerning the advancement of Bahraini women.
Emphasizing the SCW's focus on mental health in educational institutions for women and children, Al Saleh explained that mental health encompasses more than the absence of illness; it includes the ability to experience happiness, navigate social situations, and maintain a balance between abilities, aspirations, and emotions.
He further noted that positive mental health aids individuals in daily life management, fosters satisfaction, and enhances self-confidence. Al Saleh asserted that good mental health supports physical health, underscoring Bahrain's dedication to advancing its mental health system in alignment with national health strategies as an integral component of a comprehensive healthcare framework.
