Geneva: MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, a member of the Kingdom of Bahrain's parliamentary division, chaired a discussion session on gender equality held in Geneva. The event was organised in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), United Nations Women, and the Women in Leadership Initiative, and focused on future tools to help parliamentarians lead change.
According to Bahrain News Agency, MP Hassan stated that gender equality is crucial for peace, development, and justice, and emphasized the need for institutional commitment, a sustainable culture, and inclusive leadership. He underscored the importance of overcoming entrenched social norms that perpetuate gender stereotypes and urged both male and female parliamentarians, with a particular focus on youth, to foster a fair and balanced political environment and promote equality in public life.
