Manama: MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, Head of the Kingdom of Bahrain's parliamentary delegation and representing Bahrain as the country holding the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) presidency, chaired a coordination meeting of GCC legislative councils in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
According to Bahrain News Agency, The meeting was held on the sidelines of the APA Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs meeting.
Participants discussed means to strengthen GCC coordination and consultation during APA meetings and reviewed key items on the committee's agenda, with a focus on coordinating GCC positions and supporting joint parliamentary action.
The meeting emphasised the importance of continuing coordination among GCC legislative councils to strengthen their participation in parliamentary forums and align positions on regional and international issues of common interest.
The Standing Committee is set to review draft resolutions covering cultural diversity and heritage protection, information and communications technology, health equity, anti-corruption efforts, women parliamentarians, interfaith dialogue, combating illicit trafficking in drugs and cultural materials, youth, ageing societies, human development and tourism cooperation.
The Bahraini delegation included Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Member of the Shura Council; MP Bader Saleh Al Tamimi; and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives and Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division.
