Manama: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain's strongest condemnation of the attack targeting its territory in the early hours of Saturday, June 27, 2026, using a number of Iranian drones. The ministry described the attack as a flagrant violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty, a blatant threat to the security of citizens and residents, and a serious breach of international norms and conventions prohibiting attacks on civilian objects and acts of terror against civilians.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministry strongly condemned the reprehensible act of aggression, stressing that the Iranian regime's continued attacks, at a time when regional and international efforts are focused on de-escalation, place sole responsibility on Tehran for undermining peace efforts. The ministry said the attacks reflect a continued policy of destabilising security, exporting chaos, and eroding regional stability. The ministry reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast principles, stressing that peace cannot be achieved through intimidation, nor can security be imposed through aggression. It affirmed that Bahrain's resolve remains unwavering in the face of all threats and that its national unity cannot be undermined by those who believe that continued aggression can force the Kingdom to abandon its principles or weaken its determination.
The ministry also recalled United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), introduced by the Kingdom on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Jordan, which was supported by 136 countries as a clear expression of the collective will of the international community. It stressed that Tehran's continued aggression constitutes a direct challenge to that international consensus. Having committed itself under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed on 17 June 2026, to a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of the countries of the region, Iran's latest attack demonstrates its disregard for the international community and for the commitments it undertook.
The ministry reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's full and legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and stability in accordance with international law, and called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities by ensuring the implementation of its resolution and holding those responsible for the attack accountable.
