Cairo:Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, met with His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, during an official visit to Egypt.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting included members of the Centre's Board of Trustees, Salah Yusuf Al Jowder and His Grace Bishop Julius, General Bishop of Old Cairo Churches and the Bishopric of Public and Social Services.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted Bahrain's commitment to coexistence and respect for religious and cultural diversity, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasized the Centre's efforts and international initiatives, including the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance.
Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening dialogue and engagement among religious communities, the role of religious institutions in enhancing human fraternity, and promoting social cohesion.
Pope Tawadros II praised Bahrain's efforts in fostering coexistence, tolerance, and dialogue among different faiths and cultures, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation to spread a culture of peace, love, and understanding among communities.
