Riyadh: Nabil Fahmy, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the targeting of the East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by a number of drones coming from Iraqi territory, which resulted in human and material casualties. He described it as a flagrant violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty, a serious threat to its security and stability, and a clear breach of the rules of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Fahmy stressed that targeting infrastructure, oil facilities, and energy transportation lines constitutes a direct threat to energy security and the stability of the regional and international economy. He affirmed the League of Arab States' categorical rejection of the use of the territory of any Arab state as a launching point for attacks against another Arab state or undermining its security and stability.
He emphasized the League of Arab States' full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for it in all the legitimate and necessary measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security and national assets, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents on its territory.
Fahmy expressed appreciation for the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which chose not to respond at the present time in order to give the Iraqi Government an opportunity to take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks targeting the Arab neighborhood, launched from Iraqi territory, in a manner that strengthens the principles of good-neighborliness and preserves regional security and stability.
