Geneva: Ambassador Nasser Al Hayen, Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, declared that the repeated Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait are a flagrant violation of the country's sovereignty and a clear breach of international legitimacy resolutions. He reiterated Kuwait's strong condemnation of the attacks and reaffirmed its inherent right to self-defence in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Al Hayen made these remarks during Kuwait's address to the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference. He stated that Kuwait has been subjected to repeated and systematic Iranian attacks since the beginning of the year, with the latest occurring early on Wednesday. The Ambassador highlighted that these attacks, along with the escalating crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, pose a threat to millions of civilians and workers in the region and beyond, while also undermining economic development efforts.
He pointed out that resolutions adopted by international organisations, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, a Human Rights Council resolution, and resolutions by the International Telecommunication Union and the World Health Assembly, reflect the extent of the crisis and its impact on civilian and vital facilities and infrastructure.
Ambassador Al Hayen urged the international community and the Security Council to take their legal and humanitarian responsibilities seriously to halt the attacks and protect rights and stability.
