His Majesty King bin Isa Al-Khalifa hailed solid cooperation binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations, particularly in the environment field. He reiterated Bahrain’s keenness on bolstering aspects of cooperation with the UN agencies towards consolidating the march of development in Bahrain.
He made the statement as he received the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Erik Solheim, who conveyed greetings from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who wished the people of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
HM the King also extended his greetings to Guterres, wishing him success in his efforts to achieve the UN goals. He lauded standing cooperation between the Supreme Council for the Environment and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), hailing Bahrain’s economic, development, educational and environmental achievements.
He commended UNEP-led efforts and initiatives, which contributed to promoting sustainable and human development in Bahrain as part of fruitful cooperation with the UN agencies. He affirmed Bahrain’s support to the UN development initiatives, stressing keenness on building an efficient partnership, as part of its commitment to support international efforts and contribute to building a more prosperous future for all people in the world.
