Accra:Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, has inaugurated WestPoint's new factory expansion in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The facility will produce fiber fillings for bedding, pillows, and various filled products. The event was attended by Jonathan Storey, the CEO of WestPoint.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Fakhro emphasized that the expansion of international industrial investments in Bahrain highlights the Kingdom's competitive advantages and its appealing investment environment. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022-2026), which aims to develop manufacturing, boost the industrial sector's contribution to GDP, improve supply chain efficiency, and increase exports to both regional and international markets.
Minister Fakhro also noted that WestPoint's investment expansion serves as a testament to the success of industrial investments in Bahrain. He reiterated the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's commitment to supporting the growth and expansion of these investments to enhance national products' competitiveness, increase local production, and create new opportunities to access Gulf Cooperation Council markets.
Jonathan Storey praised Bahrain's favorable investment climate, stating that the new expansion marks a significant step in the company's growth. Building on the success of its initial phase of towel production, the expansion will increase the company's manufacturing capacity to offer a full range of locally produced home textiles, catering to the rising demand in Gulf markets.
The expansion will also diversify WestPoint's locally manufactured textiles, enhancing its ability to supply markets with an extensive range of "Made in Bahrain" home products, including bed linens, towels, pillows, and filled products. This development follows Bahrain's hosting of the inaugural "Made in GCC 2026 Forum and Exhibition," which showcased opportunities to bolster local manufacturing and meet increasing regional market demands. Through its expanded facility, WestPoint aims to provide locally manufactured alternatives, strengthen supply chains, and reduce reliance on imports from outside the region.
