Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today sent a cable of congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, on the occasion of "Union Pledge Day".
According to Bahrain News Agency, Union Pledge Day commemorates the historic meeting in 1971 where UAE founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, along with other Emirates rulers, signed the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution, formally announcing the official name of the United Arab Emirates.
In addition to the President, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also sent similar congratulatory cables to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court of the UAE.
