HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Reviews Progress on Bahrain’s National Afforestation Plan

Riffa: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today received an update on the progress of Bahrain's National Afforestation Plan at Riffa Palace. During the briefing, His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, reported that 2.4 million trees have been planted, marking 67% of the Plan's target of 3.6 million trees by 2035. The Bahrain Mangroves Initiative has notably exceeded its goals, with 2.2 million seedlings planted, surpassing the initial target of 1.6 million by 2035.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the achievements and emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to implementing programmes that support development while preserving the environment and protecting natural resources. His Royal Highness highlighted that these initiatives are guided by detailed plans and performance indicators, reinforcing Bahrain's position as a leading model in sustainable environmental initiatives, aligned with His Majesty King Hamad Isa Al Khalifa's vision.

His Royal Highness reiterated Bahrain's dedication to supporting international efforts aimed at achieving environmental security through national initiatives and programmes that adhere to high standards. He stressed the significance of the ongoing progress of the National Afforestation Plan, emphasizing the dedication of Team Bahrain in achieving success that supports growth and prosperity across various sectors.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted that environmental preservation is a shared societal responsibility, strengthened across society to promote awareness and sustainable practices. This contributes to the expansion of afforestation across all governorates of the Kingdom and achieving Bahrain's commitment to zero carbon neutrality by 2060.

His Royal Highness underscored the importance of partnership, integration, and cooperation among community institutions, noting that such collaboration enhances the effectiveness of national environmental initiatives and supports the Kingdom's objectives of environmental preservation and sustainability.
