His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired a meeting of the Higher Urban Planning Committee, held remotely.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister stressed the importance of the Kingdom’s ongoing development projects, such as the Sports City project, in supporting the national economy and its competitiveness in line with the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by HM the King.
The Committee discussed plans for Sports City, noting its status as a strategic project and destination for regional and international sporting events and championships.
The Higher Committee for Urban Planning approved the general project plan and assigned the Urban Planning and Development Authority to complete detailed studies related to the project.
The Sports City project is one of many projects in the Southern Governorate complementing the Bahrain International Circuit and the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre project.
The Deputy Prime Minister, HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and members of the committee also attended the remote meeting.
