Higher Education Council Secretary-General Engages in Key Arab Research Meeting

Manama: Dr. Diana Abdulkareem Al Jahromi, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council (HEC), actively participated in the semi-annual meeting of the Union of Arab Research Councils, which was chaired by the Sultanate of Oman. The gathering included officials and representatives from various research councils and bodies across the Arab world, alongside the Union of Arab Research Councils under the League of Arab States.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting's agenda focused on launching several research awards and expanding research and innovation networks, engaging thousands of Arab researchers. Strategic initiatives and projects were also a key focus, alongside discussions on activating the Arab Scientific Exchange Programme and the Arab Green Innovation Programme. These efforts aim to strengthen specialized scientific networks that support researchers and innovators in the region.

Additionally, the meeting coordinated plans for the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the next session of the council's meetings in December 2026. The event was part of a wider initiative to enhance Arab cooperation and coordination in scientific research and innovation, facilitating the exchange of expertise and experiences. These collaborative efforts aim to support research and innovation pathways that contribute to the advancement of scientific research and the development of the higher education system in the Arab world.
