Riyadh: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, visited the sports village for the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games hosted in Riyadh until November 21. HH Shaikh Khalid met with members of the Bahraini delegation and national teams participating in the Games.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid was accompanied by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Fajr Jassim, a Board Member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and several members of the administrative delegation. During his visit, HH Shaikh Khalid expressed pride in the Kingdom of Bahrain's participation in this major Islamic sports event and commended the national teams' efforts in representing Bahrain in various competitions. He specifically praised the volleyball team's performance against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wishing them continued success.
HH Shaikh Khalid encouraged the karate and weightlifting teams to intensify their efforts to achieve the best results. He also checked on the preparations and morale of the other Bahraini teams, who are preparing for their competitions with strong determination to succeed. HH Shaikh Khalid highlighted that this participation is a continuation of the support Bahraini sports receive from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
HH Shaikh Khalid commended the attention and support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, noting that this support serves as the greatest motivation for achieving further accomplishments. He expressed pride in meeting the athletes at this important event, which gathers top athletes from various friendly countries, and expressed confidence in the national teams' ability to perform well, reflecting the progress of Bahraini sports.
Furthermore, HH Shaikh Khalid extended appreciation to Saudi Arabia for hosting and organising the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games, emphasising that the standard of organisation reflects Saudi Arabia's leading position in hosting major sports events.
