Manama: His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa have inaugurated the Kingdom of Bahrain's first public skating facility. This project marks a new addition to Bahrain's sports infrastructure, demonstrating a commitment to providing modern facilities for young people.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the project was implemented under the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. His Highness Shaikh Nasser's dedication to supporting sporting initiatives and creating environments for young talent is evident in the development of this facility.
The opening ceremony was attended by Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, and several officials. The venue is the first public space in the Kingdom dedicated to skating, providing a safe and equipped environment for skaters, especially as the sport gains global popularity after its inclusion in the Olympic Games.
The facility serves as a community hub that combines sport, creativity, and social interaction. It contributes to enhancing the quality of life by offering various sporting and recreational options for young people, promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging sporting participation.
The project received support from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the General Sports Authority, Infracorp, and Premier Q, highlighting efforts to develop modern sports facilities. The opening of the skating rink is a significant step in Bahrain's sports sector development, supporting sporting talent and offering new opportunities for youth, thereby reinforcing Bahrain's position as a supporter of sporting innovation and investment in young talent.
