Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), planted trees at Isa Sports City. This is in support of Bahrain’s national action plan for carbon neutrality, announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in observance of National Tree Week launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the GSA, along with several heads and representatives of sports federations. Tree Week aims to advance Bahrain’s afforestation plan, which targets doubling the number of trees to 3.6 million by 2035, in line with the Kingdom’s commitments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
