The Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council (HEC) and Deputy Chairperson of its Board of Trustees, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa affirmed that the education process is witnessing a broad development thanks to the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
She noted that education is one of the most important pillars to achieve sustainable development and the economic vision of Bahrain 2030.
Marking International Day of Education, Dr. Shaikha Rana stressed that this year’s theme “Changing Course, Transforming Education” comes in line with HEC’s objectives.
HEC seeks to accomplish important priorities for both the present and the future, including reviewing and developing policies and legislation related to higher education, and expanding its scope to include all post-school education tracks and its non-traditional patterns.
She highlighted the council’s most important achievements in 2021, including its ability to transform higher education through the development of qualitative academic programs in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. It provided the option of remote and physical attendance for students of higher education institutions and supporting the research capabilities of members of educational staff institutions of higher education and affirming the importance of scientific research.
She added that the HEC was also keen on strengthening relations with various countries and exchanging expertise and programs that contribute to the development of higher education by holding meetings with ambassadors and representatives of other friendly countries. HEC signed cooperation agreements between higher education institutions and foreign institutions like the British Accreditation Council and Advance HE.
The secretary-general noted that Bahrain dealt with the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic with awareness, efficiency and competence, thanks to the efforts made by the coordinating committee headed by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr. Shaikha Rana confirmed that HEC is aware of the responsibility entrusted to it in developing and strengthening the educational process and taking it to broader levels of progress and prosperity.
