New York:Hatem Abdulhamid Hatem, Chief of the Organizations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Global Governance Group (3G) in New York, held alongside the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting's primary focus was "Building an AI-Ready State."
According to Bahrain News Agency, Hatem emphasized the role of the Global Governance Group in articulating the views of various countries to the Group of Twenty (G20), especially concerning economic and technological matters. He highlighted the crucial need for countries to have access to technology and the importance of building their capabilities. This includes investing in digital infrastructure, developing human capital, and ensuring responsible governance to maximize the benefits of AI.
Hatem detailed Bahrain's significant initiatives in the AI sector, such as the introduction of a national AI policy and efforts to devise a comprehensive national strategy. Additionally, he mentioned Bahrain's adoption of the GCC Guiding Framework on AI Ethics.
He concluded by expressing Bahrain's commitment to fostering constructive cooperation with the 3G and G20, aiming to promote sustainable development and collective prosperity.
