GCC Secretary General Meets with European Commissioner to Strengthen Gulf-European Ties

Manama: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration: During the meeting, the two sides discussed several topics related to cementing Gulf-European ties. In this context, they stressed the follow-up on the outcomes of the statement from the 1st GCC-EU Summit, particularly Paragraph (24), which welcomed the results of the High-Level Ministerial Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation. They also welcomed the holding of annual meetings to maintain joint coordination and explored several proposals aimed at further bolstering GCC-EU links.

According to Bahrain News Agency, as the two sides discussed the latest regional developments, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration reaffirmed the European Union's supportive stance toward the GCC states against the Iranian aggressions on their territories. He further lauded the facilities and services provided by the Council states to facilitate the evacuation of European nationals during the current crisis.
