New york: Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), participated in the GCC Ministerial Coordination Meeting, chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the current session, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Budaiwi stated that the GCC countries' active participation in international forums, along with the Council's expanding relations with countries, regional blocs, and international organizations, underscores the GCC's prominent position on the international stage. He noted that the meeting is part of ongoing consultations among the GCC countries on issues of mutual interest, thus enhancing coordination and joint action within regional and international organizations.
Al Budaiwi detailed that the meeting discussed upcoming joint ministerial meetings to be held with various countries, regional groupings, and international organizations during UNGA 81. The aim is to coordinate priorities, advance common objectives, and strengthen cooperation. He emphasized that these joint meetings reflect the mutual commitment of the GCC and its partners to fortify relations, given the increasing role of the GCC countries in supporting security, stability, and sustainable development.
The Secretary General reiterated that the GCC countries are committed to developing long-term partnerships based on mutual respect and common interests. This commitment supports peace, stability, and comprehensive development, aligning with the Council's unified positions on regional and international issues.
