Formula Trophy Malaysia to Kick Off 2026 Season at Sepang International Circuit

Sepang:Formula Trophy Malaysia (FTM), a leading single-seater championship for junior drivers in Southeast Asia, will commence its 2026 season at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) as part of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.According to Bahrain News Agency, the FTM will hold its opening round from October 2 to October 4, 2026, coinciding with the F1 weekend. This marks the beginning of a three-round season, all hosted at SIC. The second round is scheduled for November 6-8 alongside the China GT Championship, while the final round will occur from December 12-14 during the Sepang 12 Hours event.The series, initially launched as the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship in 2016-17, has established itself as an essential platform for emerging drivers. Participants compete in identical Tatuus F4-T421 cars powered by Abarth, all equipped with Giti tyres, offering a professional environment for those starting on the single-seater racing ladder.The first FTM event will feature two practic e sessions on October 2, with qualifying on October 3, followed by two races over the weekend. The event is expected to attract some of the region's most promising drivers, with the final entry list to be released closer to the date.In addition to the races, the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia will provide a range of family entertainment at the SIC Fan Zone, including performances by Chinese Acrobats, roaming entertainers, and concerts by top music artists. Multi-platinum artist Martin Garrix will perform on Sunday, and Grammy-nominated DJ Axwell will play on Saturday.Race-weekend ticket holders have the option to upgrade their tickets for the concerts, with prices set at US$50 for Axwell and US$100 for Martin Garrix, provided they purchased their tickets by September 8.
