Foreign Minister Receives GCC Secretary General to Discuss Gulf Cooperation

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting focused on the concerted efforts by the GCC General Secretariat to promote joint Gulf action and enhance integration and cooperation among GCC member states. These efforts align with the directives of the GCC leaders and aim to support the aspirations and prosperity of the people within the region.

According to Bahrain News Agency, in light of Bahrain's presidency of the current session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the discussion also covered the agenda for the upcoming 168th session of the GCC Ministerial Council. This session is scheduled to convene next September at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting further included an exchange of views on regional developments and the ongoing efforts by GCC states to maintain regional security and stability, ensuring the protection of their vital interests.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Nawar Abdullah Al Mutawa, Acting Chief of GCC Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the Secretary-General's accompanying delegation.
