New York:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, conducted alongside the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting was co-chaired by Saudi Arabia, the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, the European Union, and Norway, with participation from foreign ministers and representatives of member states and various organizations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia, Norway, and the EU for organizing the meeting, highlighting its significance in demonstrating the international commitment to a two-state solution aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
He emphasized that the Palestinian issue remains a top priority for Bahrain, reaffirming support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Dr. Al Zayani highlighted Bahrain's dedication during its UN Security Council membership to promoting political solutions, adhering to international law, protecting civilians, and ensuring humanitarian aid delivery. He also stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025) to support Gaza's recovery and reconstruction efforts and to advance a political process for the two-state solution.
He reiterated Bahrain's support for the Board of Peace, chaired by Donald Trump, President of the United States, as a framework to sustain ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid, support Gaza's rebuilding, and promote a political process for peace. Dr. Al Zayani expressed Bahrain's anticipation for the Board of Peace's collaboration with the UN and international partners to turn international consensus into concrete actions, such as strengthening Palestinian state institutions.
Dr. Al Zayani asserted that addressing the root causes of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is crucial for regional security and stability, and that sustainable peace necessitates a fair resolution based on the two-state solution and the Palestinian people's aspirations for security and self-determination.
He confirmed Bahrain's commitment to working with partners to maintain international momentum, support the Palestinian people and their institutions, and progress toward a political process for the two-state solution and a comprehensive peace.
The meeting reviewed international efforts to implement the two-state solution, discussed follow-up on commitments, support for Palestinian state institutions, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction in Gaza, and actions to enhance international support for Palestine's recognition and UN membership.
Present at the meeting were Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaie, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the UN in New York; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry; and Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Chief of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector.
