Foreign Minister Engages with Ugandan President’s Special Envoy

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ruhakana Rugunda, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Uganda, during the first International Space Summit. Accompanying Rugunda was Olara Otunnu, Uganda's candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General in the upcoming term. The meeting provided a platform for discussions on international cooperation and future diplomatic engagements.

According to Bahrain News Agency, during the meeting, Otunnu presented his campaign programme and outlined his priorities for the role of United Nations Secretary-General. He emphasized his vision for enhancing the effectiveness and reach of the United Nations in tackling global challenges.

Dr. Al Zayani underscored the significance of the United Nations Secretary-General's role in promoting international efforts towards global development and maintaining peace and security. He expressed support for collaborative initiatives that align with these objectives.

The meeting was also attended by Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, Ambassador to the French Republic, and Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Chief of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their presence highlighted the importance of multilateral diplomacy in addressing global issues.
