New York:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the third annual ministerial dinner for the current elected members of the United Nations Security Council (E10) and the five newly elected members set to begin their terms in January 2027. The event was hosted by Kuwait, Latvia, and Pakistan on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing coordination and consultation among the Council's elected members. It also aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences between current and incoming members, aiding in their preparation to assume responsibilities on the Council.
Discussions at the dinner also revolved around improving the Security Council's effectiveness and working methods, strengthening its role in maintaining international peace and security, and addressing issues on its agenda.
Bahrain's involvement in the meeting is part of its non-permanent membership of the Security Council for the 2026-2027 term. This participation underscores Bahrain's commitment to collective action and coordination among Council members to promote security, stability, and peaceful conflict resolutions at both regional and international levels.
