Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, during his visit to attend the second session of the Bahrain-UK Strategic Dialogue. The meeting reviewed the historical ties and strong strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across all levels, in line with the Comprehensive Security, Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) signed between Bahrain, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The dialogue highlighted the necessity for continued coordination and consultation on shared challenges, especially during Bahrain's upcoming two-year non-permanent membership on the United Nations Security Council. The importance of finalizing the Gulf Cooperation Council-United Kingdom free trade agreement to bolster bilateral trade was also underscored.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed regional and international developments, including efforts to resolve conflicts to maintain international peace and security. They shared perspectives on the situations in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan, reviewing ongoing efforts to enhance regional security and stability and to advance a just and comprehensive peace for the benefit of all peoples in the region.
