Manama: Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, engaged in significant dialogues with key UNESCO and Microsoft officials on the sidelines of Digital Week at UNESCO headquarters. The discussions aimed at enhancing the cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain's Ministry of Education and international educational bodies.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Juma met with Professor Qun Chen, UNESCO's Assistant Director General for Education, focusing on strengthening ties through educational initiatives, notably the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. These discussions highlighted the importance of integrating technology into education systems.
Furthermore, the minister held talks with Dr. Sobhi Tawil, Director of the Future of Learning and Innovation Division, and Dr. Shafika Isaacs, Director of the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize, along with other UNESCO officials. The meetings covered arrangements for forthcoming events and provided an opportunity for Dr. Juma to showcase the ministry's programs aimed at embedding technology within the educational framework.
In addition to his engagements with UNESCO, Dr. Juma also discussed potential collaborations with senior Microsoft officials. The focus was on training teachers in the use of artificial intelligence in education and enhancing the involvement of Bahraini educational institutions in Microsoft's technology incubator schools programme.
