New York:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the third annual ministerial dinner for the ten current elected members of the United Nations Security Council (E10) and the five newly elected members whose terms begin in January 2027. The dinner was jointly hosted by Kuwait, Latvia, and Pakistan on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, the meeting discussed ways to strengthen coordination and consultation among the Council's elected members. It aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences between current and incoming members, assisting the latter in preparing for their responsibilities on the Council.
The discussions also focused on enhancing the Security Council's effectiveness and working methods, strengthening its role in maintaining international peace and security, and considering issues on its agenda.
Bahrain's participation in the meeting is part of its non-permanent membership of the Security Council for the 2026-2027 term. This involvement reflects Bahrain's commitment to strengthening collective action and coordination among Council members to support efforts that promote security and stability and advance peaceful conflict resolution at regional and international levels.
