Diyar Al Muharraq Showcases Sustainability, Innovation at Cityscape Bahrain 2024.

Manama: Diyar Al Muharraq continues to redefine urban living in Bahrain, integrating sustainability, innovation, and community-driven design into its projects. Speaking to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of Cityscape Bahrain 2024, Ahmed Al Ammadi, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq, highlighted the company’s groundbreaking efforts to create a sustainable and inclusive urban environment while driving economic and social progress.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Ammadi emphasised Diyar’s commitment to sustainability, noting, ‘From the very beginning, sustainability has been at the core of our master plan. Our designs prioritise environmental and social wellness; ensuring green spaces are within walking distance for every resident.’ He elaborated on several key initiatives, including the introduction of a state-of-the-art deep gravity sewage system that minimises energy consumption. Diyar has also pioneered the use of recycled construction waste for paving streets in collaboration with the Ministry of Wor
ks, making it the first private project in Bahrain to adopt this sustainable practice.

Solar energy plays a significant role in Diyar’s sustainability efforts. ‘We have integrated solar panels into over 1,500 parking shades at Dragon City, generating nearly 65% of the energy required for the complex,’ Al Ammadi noted. Diyar has also implemented Bahrain’s first solar-powered irrigation system, which uses treated water to address water scarcity concerns while maintaining the lush greenery within the development.

Cityscape Bahrain 2024 marked Diyar’s third consecutive participation, with the company unveiling its ambitious 10 million square metre master plan. Key projects showcased included Al Naseem and Al Wasem, along with Canal View Villas, of which 50% have already been handed over to residents. The remaining units are set for completion by early 2025. ‘We are committed to delivering high-quality projects that meet the evolving needs of our residents while setting a benchmark for excellence in real estate,
‘ Al Ammadi said.

Discussing Diyar’s economic contributions, Al Ammadi highlighted its role as a major destination for locals and tourists alike. ‘Diyar is home to multiple hotels, shopping malls like Dragon City and Marassi Galleria, and public parks, attracting over 2 million visitors each month. These attractions not only enhance Bahrain’s tourism sector but also create significant employment opportunities,’ he said.

Looking ahead, Al Ammadi outlined Diyar’s long-term vision. ‘We aim to complete the entire master plan within the next eight to ten years, with 50% of the infrastructure already in place,’ he shared. He added that Diyar continually adapts to market challenges by identifying opportunities and developing creative solutions. ‘For example, Diyar Homes was launched in response to housing challenges in Bahrain, providing over 4,000 affordable and middle-class homes,’ Al Ammadi explained.

On the importance of Cityscape Bahrain, Al Ammadi remarked, ‘This exhibition is an invaluable platform for us
to connect with clients, investors, stakeholders, and industry professionals. It allows us to explore opportunities, build relationships, and set the tone for the year ahead.’ Diyar Al Muharraq remains a pioneer in Bahrain’s real estate sector, combining sustainability, innovation, and economic growth to create a thriving, inclusive community that aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
