Director General of Traffic Highlights Positive Impact of Road Network Expansion on Traffic Safety

Manama: Major General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic, emphasized that the recent infrastructure development and road network expansion projects are having a significant positive impact on traffic safety. These projects, guided by royal directives and overseen by the government, are complemented by the integration of smart systems and cameras, leading to a reduction in traffic violations and accidents, thereby safeguarding lives and property.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Director General highlighted that with the support of the Interior Minister, the Directorate has successfully completed the first phase of installing smart system cameras. This initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize the traffic system and harness technology to improve road safety. Performance indicators have shown a noticeable decrease in traffic violations and accidents, underscoring the effectiveness of the road development projects and the integration of smart systems.

Major General Al Khalifa also praised the growing traffic awareness among drivers and their adherence to traffic regulations, which reflects a cultural shift towards safe driving practices. He reiterated the Directorate's commitment to further developing the traffic system using modern technologies, with a focus on protecting lives and property. He also emphasized that community partnership remains essential in achieving a safe and sustainable traffic environment.
