Derasat to Enhance Scientific Research Programmes in Cybersecurity

Manama: Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Al Abdullah, Executive Director of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), chaired the first meeting of the Scientific Research Committee on Cybersecurity. Dr. Al Abdullah emphasized the importance of collaborating with national institutions to develop studies and exchange research expertise, highlighting these efforts as crucial to solidifying Bahrain's position as a leading global model in the field of cybersecurity.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee includes experts and representatives from the National Cybersecurity Centre, the University of Bahrain, the Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain Polytechnic, and the Nasser Technical and Scientific Centre. Dr. Al Abdullah reiterated the Centre's dedication to strengthening national research partnerships to support digital transformation and establish a knowledge-based society in a secure and innovative cyber environment.

This initiative aligns with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Dr. Al Abdullah remarked that forming the committee reflects a shared commitment to advancing scientific research by examining cybersecurity plans and challenges on national, regional, and international fronts.

The committee's objectives include exploring collaboration opportunities and developing actionable tools to support the National Cybersecurity Strategy's research and development goals in the Kingdom. Dr. Al Abdullah highlighted the committee's focus on adopting a scientific approach to addressing cybersecurity challenges, encouraging in-depth studies, collaborative research projects, intellectual dialogues, seminars, and discussion forums.

These initiatives are intended to foster a culture of scientific research in cybersecurity within Bahrain.
