MANAMA: The Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies, known as Derasat, has significantly bolstered its regional influence through a series of expanded programs and strategic initiatives in 2024, reinforcing its status as a leading research institution and vital partner for national entities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Derasat has engaged in numerous collaborations with international organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions, facilitating studies, research, dialogues, and projects that address both regional and global challenges. In 2024, the center signed key cooperation agreements with entities such as Arabian Gulf University, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, as well as United Nations entities. These partnerships have been pivotal in enhancing Derasat's contributions to decision-makers, offering in-depth analyses in political, security, social, economic, and energy fields.
Among the center's notable undertakings is an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme to prepare the "2026 National Human Development Report," which will focus on digital transformation. This report aims to highlight Bahrain's progress in electronic services and digital technologies, contributing to economic diversification and empowering citizens. Furthermore, Derasat has launched the "Green Houses of Worship" program in collaboration with the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, promoting the use of renewable energy in places of worship.
Derasat has also played a crucial role in establishing the China-Arab Think Tank Alliance in Shanghai and has organized lectures featuring experts on international issues. The center's efforts extended to hosting over 24 intellectual dialogues with more than 2,500 participants, addressing critical topics such as military technology and digital transformation. Additionally, Derasat published journal editions focusing on "Maritime Security" and "GCC Dynamics."
The center's researchers have been active participants in local and international events, contributing to strategic discussions and enhancing Derasat's standing as a prominent think tank. Under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Derasat remains committed to research excellence and expanding partnerships. The center continues to focus on strategic, economic, energy, environmental, and digital transformation fields, aligning with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
