Deputy Prime Minister Chairs Landmark 300th Ministerial Committee Meeting

Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the 300th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure. The committee commended the efforts of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in accelerating the achievement of the targets of the afforestation plan, which aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, in line with the objectives of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee also expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture for its effective coordination with the Ministry of Health and relevant entities to intensify mosquito control campaigns across the Kingdom, ensuring public safety and providing a sustainable healthy environment for the community.

The committee commended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Capital Trustees Board and Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company (BKIC) regarding the renovation and maintenance of Al Seef Garden. This initiative aims to continue enhancing the quality of municipal services and developing public facilities in the Capital Governorate.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of continuing to expand public-private partnerships and leveraging promising opportunities for cooperation. This strategy is intended to deliver the best services to the community and enhance the contributions of companies within the framework of their national and social responsibility.

The committee highlighted the launch and development by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning of digital government services. This initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts towards comprehensive digital transformation across all its services, aimed at facilitating procedures and providing the best services to citizens.

They extended congratulations to Abdulnabi Abdullah Al Sabah on winning by acclamation the presidency of the Bahrain Society of Engineers, and congratulated the board members on their election for the new term (2026 - 2028). The committee also expressed appreciation to the chairperson and members of the previous board, led by Dr. Raida Al Alawi, commending the society's prominent role and its contributions in supporting Bahraini engineers.

The committee reviewed the availability of essential construction materials in the local market, examining measures to ensure the stability of work in urban and development projects amidst regional challenges affecting supply chains.

They also reviewed joint field efforts between the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Works to ensure readiness and effective response to rainwater accumulations during the current season.

The committee followed up on developments related to regulating and developing mechanisms for the optimal utilisation of treated water, taking steps aimed at enhancing its sustainability to support water resources in the Kingdom.
