Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Water Resources Council, has issued Edict (2) of 2026 to amend certain provisions of Edict (1) of 2023. This amendment pertains to the formation and organization of the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee associated with the Water Resources Council, following the approval of the Water Resources Council.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly issued edict stipulates changes to Articles One and Three of the previous edict from 2023. Article One redefines the composition of the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee, now chaired by Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs. The committee members include key figures from various ministries and sectors, such as the Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs and Animal Resources at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and the Vice President for Water Affairs at the Electricity and Water Authority, among others. The membership term is set for three years, with the possibility of renewal for additional terms.
Article Three outlines the establishment of a coordination office by the Chairman of the Committee. This office is tasked with preparing agendas, notifying members, recording meeting minutes, and handling other responsibilities as assigned by the Committee or its affiliated teams. The edict mandates all relevant officials to implement its provisions, which become effective upon publication in the Official Gazette.
