Beyon Expands Green Data Centre Portfolio with Third Renewable Energy-Powered Facility

Manama:Beyon has announced an expansion of its green data centre portfolio, introducing a third facility that will be fully powered by renewable energy. This development follows the completion of Phase 5 of the Beyon Solar Park programme. The announcement was made during the Gateway Gulf 2026 event, attended by Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Beyon Group, highlighting a significant milestone in Beyon's commitment to sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy investments.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Phase 5 was executed in partnership with Almoayyed Solar, involving an investment of approximately BD544,500. The project spans 14,000 square metres and features 2,292 solar panels, generating a total capacity of 1.5 MWp. Upon completion in the coming months, it is expected to produce about 2.5 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,585 tonnes each year.

With the completion of Phase 5, the number of Beyon's green data centres powered by renewable energy will increase to three. This expansion is aimed at bolstering the Group's sustainable digital infrastructure as demand for data, cloud, and digital services continues to rise. Beyon's strategy focuses on developing resilient, high-performance infrastructure while minimizing the environmental impact of its operations.

In addition to data centres, Beyon has extended its solar energy programme to other facilities. In 2026, Phase 4 was completed, powering Total CX's Customer Contact Centre with renewable energy, marking it as the first of its kind in Bahrain. This builds on the milestone set during Gateway Gulf 2025, where Phase 3 enabled Beyon's Tier III-certified data centre in Hamala to run entirely on renewable energy.

Andrew Kvaalseth, CEO of Beyon Group, emphasized the importance of sustainable growth, stating that data centres are crucial to the digital economy and must expand with a focus on sustainability. The achievement of three green data centres signifies a major step in Beyon's renewable energy journey, reflecting their consistent investment in sustainability.

Mohammed Almoayyed, Chairman of Almoayyed International Group, highlighted the successful partnership with Beyon, which showcases the potential of collaboration in delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. The Solar Park programme's successive phases underline a commitment to clean energy, supporting Beyon's expansion across its critical infrastructure.

The collaboration between Beyon and Almoayyed Solar is part of a long-term initiative to integrate renewable energy throughout Beyon's infrastructure, reinforcing the Kingdom of Bahrain's sustainability and carbon-reduction goals.
