Baku: Bahrain's parliamentary division delegation, led by MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee at the Council of Representatives, participated in the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States in Azerbaijan.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Salloom affirmed that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to consolidate its balanced political approach based on openness, dialogue, and bridge-building among nations. This approach promotes regional and international security and stability and supports peaceful and just solutions to regional and international issues, reflecting Bahrain's standing as a trusted partner in the international system and a key supporter of multilateral cooperation.
Al Salloom also commended the support of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bahraini Parliamentary Division delegation, in strengthening their participation in regional and international parliamentary forums. This enhances its contribution to strategic discussions, the exchange of expertise, and the presentation of initiatives that support joint Islamic parliamentary work and align with the aspirations of member states for greater coordination and integration.
He noted that the conference is being held amid rapidly evolving international challenges and resulting political, economic, and humanitarian crises, which require enhanced coordination among Islamic parliaments and the unification of positions and perspectives in support of stability and sustainable development. This aims to strengthen the presence of the Islamic parliamentary voice in international forums.
Al Salloom stressed the importance of continued unified parliamentary support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, backing efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
He added that addressing hate speech and extremism requires strengthening dialogue among civilizations, cultures, and religions, consolidating the values of tolerance and coexistence. Further development of cooperation among member councils and expanding coordination between parliaments is essential to formulate unified positions on key issues.
Al Salloom emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy represents an effective tool in supporting just causes, strengthening international presence, and enhancing development and stability within the framework of joint international action.
