Manama:Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, has congratulated Bahraini universities for their outstanding performance in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027. This achievement marks significant progress for Bahrain's higher education institutions both locally and globally.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the rankings saw Ahlia University in Bahrain enter for the first time, ranking among the top 300 universities globally, a first for any private university in Bahrain. The University of Bahrain also made notable progress, climbing 285 places from its previous 2025 ranking, placing it among the top 801-1,000 universities worldwide. Arabian Gulf University advanced 19 places, now ranking within the top 401-450 universities worldwide.
Dr. Juma extended his congratulations to Ahlia University, its Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, academic and administrative staff, and students for this remarkable achievement which enhances Bahrain's educational reputation. He also praised the University of Bahrain for its significant improvement, noting that it demonstrates the university's success in adopting effective policies that enhance its competitiveness regionally and globally.
Additionally, Dr. Juma congratulated Arabian Gulf University for its progress, describing it as evidence of the qualitative advancements the university has made in recent years. He highlighted that the inclusion of Bahraini universities in these rankings reflects the success of national efforts and strategies endorsed by the Higher Education Council to boost the appeal of Bahrain's higher education sector.
Dr. Juma expressed his confidence in the potential for more Bahraini universities to enter future editions of the rankings, emphasizing the support provided by the Higher Education Council under the National Higher Education and Scientific Research Strategy. He also thanked the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council for their pivotal role in these achievements.
