Geneva:Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, represented Bahrain at the 39th session of the Working Party on Transport Trends and Economics (WP.5) under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Inland Transport Committee, held at the Palais des Nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Dhaen presented Bahrain's statement on the Technical Body on Inland Transport Resilience to Climate Change. She emphasized Bahrain's ongoing efforts to develop sustainable transport policies and promote low-emission public transport to reduce carbon emissions, aligning with international commitments.
Al Dhaen highlighted the significance Bahrain places on enhancing transport infrastructure resilience to climate change, ensuring continued mobility and supporting sustainable economic activities. She also mentioned a quick guide on assessing the criticality of transport networks, underscoring its role as a practical tool for countries to identify and prioritize resilience measures.
She stressed the importance of regional and international cooperation and expertise sharing to tackle climate challenges and reaffirmed Bahrain's dedication to supporting global efforts in developing resilient and sustainable transport systems.
