Bahrain to Host World Camelids Sports General Assembly for First Time


Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the World Camelids Sports (WCS) General Assembly for the first time on December 19 and 20. The event will take place at The Art Rotana Resort on Amwaj Islands in Muharraq Governorate.



According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Authority for Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his pride in hosting the International Camel Federation’s General Assembly. The assembly will see participation from more than 70 countries, showcasing Bahrain’s status as a hub for regional and international sporting events.



HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad highlighted that hosting the event aligns with the directives and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Their aim is to enhance Bahrain’s presence on the global sporting map and strengthen cooperation with international sports federations.



HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad also emphasized the cultural significance of camel racing in the region, noting its technical and organizational development. He described the General Assembly as a milestone for supporting the sport’s progression and expressed satisfaction with the sport’s growing popularity, particularly its inclusion in the Asian Youth Games hosted by Bahrain.



HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed hope that the event will foster cooperation between the WCS and Bahrain, advancing the sport both regionally and globally.
