Manama:The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the seventh Government Forum for Combatting Trafficking in Persons (GFCTIP) in the Middle East from October 12 to 14, 2026.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani will participate in the forum, which will focus on "Enhancing the Sustainability of Efforts through Innovation and Partnerships." This theme underscores Bahrain's dedication to supporting efforts to combat human trafficking and adapting to evolving criminal trends.
Nibras Mohamed Taleb, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, emphasized the forum's role as a platform for evaluating anti-trafficking efforts and exchanging expertise. He highlighted the unprecedented participation of the private sector in this year's forum, reflecting the success of initiatives to develop a culture of prevention.
The event will include contributions from GCC countries, Egypt, Jordan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The UN will be represented by the International Organisation for Migration and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Former UK Prime Minister Theresa May will deliver a video address on "Technology and Innovation in Combatting Trafficking in Persons: Contemporary Challenges and Trends." The forum will feature sessions on various aspects of combatting human trafficking, including challenges, media's role, Bahrain's initiatives, and child protection.
The Insan Exhibition, showcasing art and corporate support for awareness efforts, will run concurrently with the forum, supported by private sector partners.
