Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has claimed impressive victories at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition, hosted in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with 334 contestants from 133 countries participating.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Amatelrahman Badiea Kolaib achieved second place in the female category, while Bader Saed Hamed attained third place in the male category. Both participants competed in the competition's second branch, which focused on the memorisation of the entire Holy Quran, proper recitation and Tajweed, and interpretation of Quranic vocabulary.
Judge Shaikh Omar bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, emphasized that these accomplishments highlight the high standard of Bahrain's participants in international Quran competitions. He praised the efforts of the Quran Affairs Directorate in preparing and supporting participants for both local and international competitions, thereby enhancing Bahrain's presence in Quran competitions.
Judge Shaikh Omar bin Duaij further noted that supporting and encouraging Quran memorisers helps in developing their capabilities and motivates them to continue excelling. He reaffirmed ongoing efforts to prepare and support them for Quran competitions, which enhances their ability to compete and secure leading positions for Bahrain.
Amatelrahman Badiea Kolaib's achievement adds to her impressive record in Quran competitions. She previously earned second place at the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition in 2023 and first place in the full Quran memorisation category at the 25th Bahrain Grand Quran Award. She also won first place in the 20-part memorisation category at the sixth edition of the Bin Faqeeh Quran Award (Iqra) and third place at the His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Quran Award, alongside participating in numerous local and international competitions.
Bader Hamed has also achieved significant success in local Quran competitions, securing first place in the 20-part memorisation category at the 30th Bahrain Grand Quran Award and first place in the 10-part memorisation category at the His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Quran Award in 2025. He has actively participated in several local competitions.
