Manama: The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, held a special event titled 'Cinema and TV in Concert' at the Bahrain National Theatre, showcasing a blend of Arab and international music tied to iconic film and television works.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the concert opened with renowned compositions from both Arab and global cinema and television, featuring music from Hollywood to Bollywood. This programme highlighted a range of musical styles, rhythms, and traditions, emphasizing the diversity of the orchestra's repertoire.
The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra delivered these pieces with a modern artistic approach, including contributions from prominent Bahraini and international musicians. The performance also included dramatic music inspired by globally recognized films, stories, characters, and animations, offering a rich orchestral interpretation of epic film scores and unforgettable melodies cherished by audiences for years.
Dr. Mubarak Najem, a key figure in the region's orchestral music scene, is the founder of the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra comprises over 100 musicians and choir members from Bahrain and other countries. Dr. Najem holds a doctorate in arts and the philosophy of folk arts, having studied at the Conservatoire in Egypt. Additionally, he possesses qualifications from the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in the UK and has been honored with numerous awards locally, regionally, and internationally.
