Doha: A delegation from Bahrain's Parliamentary Division is participating in the parliamentary forum, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) under the theme "Investing in People and Institutions: The Role of Parliamentarians in Social Development," held on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development, which commenced today in Doha, Qatar.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation is led by Talal Mohammed Al Mannai, Vice-Chairman of the Services Committee at the Shura Council, with MP Muneer Ibrahim Suroor. Al Mannai affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain represents a leading model in empowering citizens and institutions, grounded in the principle that investing in people forms the foundation of development and the path to progress. He noted that the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa places the individual at the centre of national policy-making.
Al Mannai highlighted the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to translating this vision into practical programmes and strategies aimed at empowering citizens, enhancing institutional performance, and creating an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. He referred to Bahrain's continued focus on education, youth and women's empowerment, and supporting entrepreneurship, reflecting the Kingdom's dedication to fairness and equal opportunity.
He underscored Bahrain's efforts to strengthen government and civil institutions to ensure efficient and transparent service delivery and to reinforce coherence across national strategies. This approach, he said, has been embodied in initiatives that enhance public-private partnerships, promote innovation and support entrepreneurship, contributing to social development and the goals of Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
Al Mannai also emphasised the role of Bahrain's legislative authority in enacting laws that support investment in human capital and institutional development, reinforce transparency and accountability, and follow up on the implementation of national social development strategies. He noted Bahrain's active engagement in regional and international initiatives to exchange expertise and strengthen cooperation in social and development policy.
