Bahrain-Morocco ties praised

Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has met within his current visit to the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco with its Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita.

The minister extended his sincere congratulations to King Mohammed VI on the success of a recent surgery, asserting the warm and strong relations linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Morocco.

He said the existing great potentials entitle bilateral ties to gain further strength and avail both sides and their peoples, recommending exchange of official visits as a way to invigorate bilateral relations at all levels while, in his turn, the Moroccan Minister hailed the ever-growing deep-rooted bilateral ties.

In a related context, the 4th Session of the Joint Bahraini-Moroccan Committee has convened, with Shaikh Khalid taking pride in the great progress of the multilevel bilateral ties and joint cooperation at regional and international levels. He also lauded the ongoing consultations which enjoy a special care and prioritization by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his brother King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The minister affirmed Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and said that the sole way to seek a solution to this made-up regional dispute can only be achieved within the framework of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Shaikh Khalid praised Rabat’s back-up for Bahrain at all circumstances and its support for national security and stability and all the measures the government of Bahrain takes in this respect, affirming that such supportive stances are not strange to Morocco which plays a pivotal role in preserving regional and international peace and stability.

In this context, the minister also paid tribute to HM King Mohammed VI, the Chairman of Al Quds Committee for defending the Holy City and preserving its status as a city of peace, tolerance and co-existence between the followers of all heavenly religions.

The minister explained that the convening of the 4th session is but one chain of the continuous consultations, with the aim of adding momentum to the existing cooperation and, exploring new prospects in order to move with bilateral relations to broader and more promising horizons and avail both sides.

“The 4th session is also an opportunity for us to exchange views on various regional and international issues, topped by the Palestinian cause, recent developments in Jerusalem, Syria, Yemen and Libya and Iran’s unacceptable interference that need joint Arab action to address and a common stand to deter terrorism and extremism of all forms.

Sustainable development in the Arab nation is facing big challenges and hardships that necessitate further cooperation and coordination among the brotherly Arab States to achieve security, stability and progress for the peoples,” said Shaikh Khalid.

The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in his turn, affirmed his country’s support for all the measures the Kingdom of Bahrain may take to preserve its security and stability and to confront terrorism and foreign interventions.

The two sides signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding and cooperation in various domains covering social insurance, youth and sports, news agencies, work and employment and air transportation in addition to a MOU between the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies and the Bahraini Institute of Diplomacy as well as another in the information and communication field.

Earlier, Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa had arrived in Morocco Kingdom to begin an official visit to the country where he was welcomed by the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
