Manama:The Kingdom of Bahrain has declared its unwavering support for Saudi Arabia's initiatives, particularly its leadership role in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen. This coalition aims to assist the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate Yemeni government in re-establishing the Yemeni state and its institutions, terminating the coup, combating terrorism, and achieving a comprehensive political solution based on three key references to fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people for safety and stability.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain issued a statement condemning the continued aggressive actions by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia. These attacks have targeted civilians, civilian and economic infrastructure, and the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. The attacks have also affected Riyadh and several other cities including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu, along with assaults on Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
The Ministry reiterated Bahrain's complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures taken by the kingdom to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents. Bahrain emphasized this stance as an inherent right under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. Additionally, Bahrain reaffirmed that the security of Saudi Arabia is fundamentally linked to the security of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, as outlined in the Joint Defence Agreement.
The Ministry also urged the United Nations Security Council, especially its permanent members, to act decisively to halt these attacks and address the threats they pose to maritime security and energy supplies. The Ministry called for the full implementation of pertinent Security Council resolutions, notably Resolutions 2216 and 2817, to ensure regional and international peace and security.
