Manama: Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States, alongside Hamad Yaqoub Al Mahmeed, Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, represented Bahrain at the Pax Silica Summit in Washington, D.C. The summit convened policymakers, experts, and chief executives from global technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation participated in the signing of the AI Opportunity Declaration, which has been endorsed by 35 countries. This declaration advocates for a regulatory framework that fosters innovation and growth, while bolstering critical supply chains and enhancing the infrastructure necessary for artificial intelligence. Key areas of focus include computing capacity, energy, semiconductor production, and talent development. The declaration also aims to stimulate increased private sector investment in the AI ecosystem.
The Pax Silica initiative, launched by the United States last year, seeks to fortify the essential supply chains that support the artificial intelligence economy. This encompasses semiconductors, critical minerals, energy, and digital infrastructure. On this occasion, Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to advancing digital innovation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He underscored Bahrain's ambition to strengthen its technological infrastructure, thus reinforcing its status as a regional hub for technology and artificial intelligence. Additionally, he stressed the significance of the declaration in aiding international efforts to define the future of advanced technologies.
During the summit, the Bahraini delegation engaged in bilateral meetings with senior officials and heads of participating delegations. These discussions focused on exploring opportunities to expand technology cooperation, share expertise, and attract high-value investments to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
