Manama: The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), known as 'The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East', is set to host the second round of the 2025/2026 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship in Sakhir this week. The region's largest drag racing series will feature high-intensity action on BIC's quarter-mile drag strip from Tuesday to Friday, December 23-26.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event follows a season-opener held last month, which saw participation from nearly 200 competitors from Bahrain and neighboring regions. Top drag racing teams and drivers will compete once again on the world-class strip, part of the NHRA Worldwide Network of the US-based National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).
The championship, sanctioned by the NHRA, is organized by BIC in association with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Bahrain Drag Racing Commission, and the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission. Competitors will battle in their respective categories aiming to be crowned champions and receive the prestigious 'Wally Trophy', awarded to title winners of NHRA events worldwide. Named after NHRA founder Wally Parks, the 'Wally' has been a symbol of excellence since 1969.
This week's events commence with a single night of Test and Tune on Tuesday from 6 pm to 12 midnight. Qualifying rounds on Wednesday will determine the elimination ladders for races on Thursday and Friday, with activities scheduled to start from 4 pm onwards each day.
Fans can witness the excitement from the Start Line Grandstand or the Beyon Grandstand. Tickets are available for BD5 for the Start Line Grandstand, BD2 for the Beyon Grandstand during Test and Tune, and BD3 for qualifying and race days. Tickets can be purchased online at bahraingp.com, via the BIC Hotline at +973-17450000, or at the gate.
