Manama:Bahrain has condemned the attack on the commercial vessel Cape Dao, which took place off the coast of Oman and resulted in the death of an Indian national and injuries to others. The attack is viewed as a serious threat to maritime navigation and commercial shipping's security and safety in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain extended condolences to the Indian government and the family of the deceased seafarer, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. The Ministry also praised the efforts of Omani authorities, including the Royal Oman Navy, for their swift evacuation of the vessel's crew and the medical care provided.
The Ministry reiterated Bahrain's stance on maintaining the freedom and safety of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and other critical waterways. It emphasized the rejection of attacks on commercial vessels and civilians and the importance of adhering to international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Bahrain underscores these principles as vital for energy security, stable supply chains, global trade flow, and regional and global peace and stability.
